Story Time✨: (Bert Kreischer fans please hit my DMs so we can be mom friends lol)
I was really struggling mentally and financially. I found peace and motivation in trying to figure out a way to help another mom in the same position utilizing the minimal resources that I had. I knew there HAD to be other businesses in the same position as me… just barely getting by and still wanting to help others without devaluing our work. Being a mama can be so hard at the simplest of times, but we all know why we do it! We all have different circumstances and need help in different ways, but one thing I know for a fact is the pretty much all moms don’t get their cups filled often enough… I knew my goal was to simply find a way to make a mama feel seen, appreciated, beautiful and valuable without any incentive whatsoever. No publicity. NO BS. Just a simple gift from one mom to another.

I found one other business owner who loved my idea and helped me believe it was not only possible, but sustainable as well, by agreeing to donate and participate with me once I got everything organized. (shoutout to Amais🏳️🌈, the owner and creator at BeewitchedWax)
I knew from my own experience that my biggest focus/problem at hand was that the mamas who were truly struggling and needed the most help were not the ones asking for it. So I started brainstorming my ideas for a nomination based selection program. A program where people could nominate a mom they believed would benefit greatly from free heartfelt gifts from understanding and empathetic local businesses. Not businesses looking for publicity or financial gain, but others like me who just truly wanted to GIVE! I planned to orchestrate a meeting every few months between the donating business owners where we would together go through submissions and vote on who believed should be selected.
While trying to get this all started I had a HARD realization of how necessary it was in our community.
I knew I had a lot on my shoulders at the time and adding on this new project completely alone wouldn’t be the best idea. SO I decided to reach out to local mom groups on FB & other areas who already had an established group with the exact audience I had an offering for. I assumed of all places, they would love the idea to offer their members and be just as excited as I was! Surprisingly I was not only shut down, but I was met with responses from 2 of the most popular groups in our area for “helping moms” of how to turn my idea into a paying project that generated profits for both myself and their groups. (Not mentioning names specifically because I’m not hating, everyone has different goals. I run a business too! I just didn’t want this to be a part of it) I insisted I wanted to donate my time and that there ARE other business willing to do the same without any catch. They ultimately laughed me away while they expressed their understanding of why something like this could never work. But I kept my faith.
That’s when I knew for sure that regardless of how much I didn’t want to add to my load, I needed a new mom group. I believe our entire community needed what I was looking for. I had been STRUGGLING so hard during my postpartum journey and couldn’t find a single appropriate resource or place I felt comfortable asking for support regardless of the countless number of groups specifically “for this” I was a part of. I was always finding those groups to be filled with spam, popularity, judgement, unclear rules, monetary gain incentives, or event political propaganda… yikes…. So I made my own group…. A group where we can actually post anonymously, where we won’t be flooded with ads, where we won’t be constantly sharing luxury activities most of you can’t afford, a group that will have the goal of making everyone feel welcome and included. In this group it will be simple, be kind, be supportive, don’t sell anything unless it’s asked for, & don’t be a judgmental asshole! Bonus points for good mom humor lol

If you’re a Butte County mama who is tired of the modern & unclear goals of everything on social media, who just wants some genuine interaction with real people who have no intentions of being anything else, you should join us!
I’ll be learning as I go and have a lot of ideas and goals for this group’s future to hopefully grow into something more that our community can be extremely proud of and comfortable sending moms to for support no matter what their life is like. If you’re a Paradise or Magalia small business owner that loves this idea and wants to help us in helping others too, you can reach out here to become a part of the team!
